How do i see my beliefs reflected in government policies and by politicians?

How do i see my beliefs reflected in government policies and by politicians?

I my beliefs being reflected if they were ever to become really appealing to any state representatives or any politicians. I could see my beliefs being reflected on if i were a dead politician. Other than that i don't know any reasons why politicians would want to reflect on my beliefs. Politicians today are much different than they used to be. today politicians are doing illegal things and getting away with it right under our countries nose. I doubt politicians would have the time to discuss my views on things unless i were to keep writing them letters asking them to find something interesting with the way i think.

My responsibilty to society is mainly to contribute my ideas to improve and better it. i have many creative ideas and things that could make our society advanced. For everyone else, i don't really feel like anyone HAS a responsibilty to society. For an adult in society all you have to do is handle business and always do the right thing whenever your in a situation. one of the responsibilites i have for myself is to make it in a wealthy society. that is one of my goals.

What influences do class, religion, language, and culture have on my relationships and my education?

Class, religion, language, and culture definetly have a big influence on relationships and education. Who you are and where you come from could make people look at you differently and it could effect the way some people treat you. You could be disliked because of your religion or race. that happens alot today. People feel a certain way about a certain religion and automatically dislike people of that religion. in school sometimes if you could be given different priviledges in class by your teacher than others. Sad to say, today's world is very corrupted.

How do my relationships within and across groups affect others?

How do my relationships within and across groups affect others?

Relationships within and across groups can affect others because they could get jealous and think you would rather have a different groups as your friends. There are people that may get upset because you are in more than one group of friends and they could take it as if you are betraying them by befriending others. For example, if one group of friends didn't like the other group but you were in both, one group or both groups might get upset with you. The best group relationship to have is with a group that doesnt care who you're friends with.

How am i a reflection in my relationships?

How am i a reflection in my relationships?

i feel that i can be a reflection in my relationships because if you want to be in a good relationship you would be in one where you could see yourself in the other person as if they were part of you. To be a relfection you would have to be in a relationship with someone who has alot of things in common with you. Maybe if the person your with remmebers alot of important things about you like for instance your birthday, they would be like a reflection of you. That is how you can be a reflection of yourself.

How do i relate to my family, my community, and society?

How do i relate to my family, my community, and society?

i relate to my family because we both are always there for eachother in times of need. When there is a problem among us we discuss it in a group as if we were city council discussing a city issue. Family members show a great amount of generosity towards eachother. i relate to my community because i am concerned about what goes on outside my home and everywhere else around it. I think everyone pretty much relates to their community because noone wants to live in a dangerous, dirty, or just plain out bad neighborhood.

Who was your most influential teacher?

Who was your most influential teacher?

i feel that overall the years i've been with my school my most influential teacher had to be my 7th grade Social Studies teacher Mr. Coble because in his class i feel like i have did the most note taking and studying that i have ever done in my entire life. he pushed me to my highest working potential and helped my test taking skills. I always got high scores on his tests and assignments and i never sank lower than a "B" in his class. maybe a "C" once but it was only for a brief moment.

Do you feel you have grown since the beginning of the year? What are some of the things that caused this to happen? What caused it to not happen?

Do you feel you have grown since the beginning of the year? What are some of the things that caused this to happen?

I feel that i have grown signifigantly since the beginning of the year. I feel that different experiences are the reason i was able to do so. Different tasks given to me and different tests of responsibilty were the reason i grew as much i did. I feel alot more mature and seeing how other students true colors let me know that everyone isn't who you thought they were at the beginning of the year. I honestly feel like i am one of the more mature students in my school and i have better judgement then most of them. i know when it's time to play around and joke but i also know when it's time to get down to business and do work. Without a doubt i feel that i have grown since the beginning of the school year.

Do you believe that the media portrays young black students in a positive light?

Do you believe that the media portrays young black students in a positive light?

i feel that sometimes when a young black student are displayed in the media it because of a major accomplishment made in school or a positive act on their community. other times when black students are in the media it is because they were involved in a big fight or they were the cause of some sort of problem. i would have to say the positivety with black students in the media is half and half. Black student's negative actions are never really displayed to the public in media because of race but because of their bad choices and to teach a lesson to people reading.

"Good night, Willie Lee, I’ll see you in the morning" Response

Is any unfinished business here?

to me i do not feel that there is any unfinished business. I feel like this poem says that the mother is not bothered by her husbands death and knows that his soul will be reborn in heaven. She knows that he is not completely gone and will return when it is her time to be with him in heaven. that is one way the poem could be interpreted. Another way is that the mother is greiving and says she'll see him tomorrow morning meaning she will see him in his casket at his funeral.

Sympathy Response

To me this poem says that we have struggled as African Americans for freedom for very long time and that we have went through pain and suffereing to be where we are today. it says that we were kept locked away as if we were a secret from the world. it locked us away from accomplishing the great things that we can accomplish today. We were locked away all because some people thought we weren't good enough to walk the earth as a part of society with them. We were thought of as animals. Now you see great things from us like the first African American president of the United States of America. This poem says that racism was not allowing us to live up to our full potential as african americans. All of our talents were kept away from society as if it were a deadly disease. the bird is crying for freedom from this cage that damages its wings. The bird beats its wings against the bars to spread them far and show its beauty. But in the process it gains scars given to it by the one thing that keeps it locked in the cage. Looking at all the accomplishments black people have made today shows us that Paul Dunbar's bird is free from its cage of racism and has shown us all what it can do.

5/1/09 Does it take courage to sustain a relationship?

Does it take courage to sustain a relationship?

Sometimes it does take courage to sustain a relationship because you could be getting into a relationship with someone who you are just beginning to trust so it would take courage to be able to go into the relationship unafraid of being hurt emotionally. it also takes courage because you have to be confident enough to let people know that you are in a relationship with the other person. if you are not afraid to go out in public with someone you're in a relationship with then you are courageous for it. Sometimes people go into relationships not knowing if they are ready for one or not.

5/1/09 What obstacles stand in the way of enduring relationships?

What obstacles stand in the way of enduring relationships?

There are many obstacles that could take away from a functioning relationship. one obstacle is the lack of trust. in a relationship (Boy and Girl for example), if neither person has trust in eachother then it will be very tough to be in a happy relationship. Both persons have to be able to trust one another with things like secrets, personal items, and even sometimes emotions. Another obstacle could be lack of communication. in a relationship, Both people must communicate so that they don't drift apart. Communication also helps for both of the people to understand what they are feeling.

5/1/09 What is a relationship?

What is a relationship?

A relationship is like a strong or weak bond between people or things. There are many kinds of relationships. There is Marriage which is one kind of relationship and there is also the boyfriend/ Girlfriend relationship where two people of the opposites sex care for eachother but aren't at the marriage stage yet. There are relationships that can occur between different animals and can also occur in education. i feel that in order to have a relationship, two opposites or more than one have to be able to attract in some kind of way.

Romeo and Juliet journal Entry 3

3. Had Juliet been older, do you think she would have done the same things she did in the play?
If Juliet was older i do not think she would do the same things that she did in the play because she would be more mature and come up with smarter solutions to solving her and Romeo's problem. For example, at the end of the story or play Romeo and Juliet both committed suicide. They could have came up with a better solution that that.

Romeo and Juliet journal Entry 2

2. Suppose Romeo and Juliet had not acted so hastily getting married. What effect, if any,
would that have had on the play?
If Romeo and Juliet had not acted so hastily, Romeo would have been killed or Paris would have been Juliet's husband. Romeo's family would also probably try to fight the Capulets. The fact that Romeo and Juliet acted hastily made the play more interesting. It added suspense.

Romeo and Juliet journal Entry 1

1. Could the same thing happen to two teenagers today? Explain why or why not.
I do think that the same thing could happen to two teenagers now because It is still possible for two families to feud and disapprove of their children dating or seeing each other. Even though this story is only a play the events which occurred in this play as far as the grudges or rivalry could still happen today.

Race & Sex - Emmit Till Murder

How has your race affected your lifestyle? Have you ever been racially profiled? Has someone you know or are related to, experienced this?

Race has never really affected my lifestyle but i have been made fun of by people of my own race because of my skin tone. But other then that i haven't really experienced anything major with Race. I have never been racially profile by anyone probably because i don't make my self out to be the rude, nasty, ignorant African American that others picture us to be. I feel that we can avoid being racially profiled by others if we carry ourselves as sophisticated human beings and are not rowdy all the time. We can all make a better name for ourselves just by holding our composure and not getting out of control. I know a few people who have been racially profiled but it was only because they were playing around and made the other person mad enough to say something disrespectful towards their race. I have only had one member of my family who has been racially profiled but it wasn't really in a bad way because the other person was complimenting my relative in a way. my cousin was in a clothes store with her mom and a caucasian girl looked at my cousin's rear end and told her mom, " See mom i want a butt like that." I don't find that disrespectful but the fact that she said it loud enough for her to hear was a kind of rude. She could have at least waited until she left the store to say that to her mother. Overall i have never experienced any kind of Racial profiling or any type of disrespect towards my race. Hopefully i wont ever have to experience such a thing in my life. I feel rasism is immature and if people still practice it then they can't accept the fact that there are people that are different from them living.

Journal Entry: Mississippi Trials, 1955

How would you have felt as a teenager back then if you had read about the Till murder in the Mississippi?

If i were a teenager back then and i read about the murder of Emmet Till i would have been very scared for my life because i may not if if i could be next to be beaten or killed because of something i say. it would be very hard for me to live in Mississippi as an African American. I would be afraid to go to sleep due to the fact that my house could be set on fire by someone From the KKK. I would seriously consider leaving that state. I would have also been very sad for Till's parents as well as his friends. if i were alive back then, i would have wanted to meet Emmet Till before he died to find out what was going through his mind. If i could then i would warn him not to go home after what he said to that white woman. i would have told him to hide out somewhere. That is how i would feel if i were a teenager back then.

Journal Entry:Mississippi Trial, 1955 - c

C - What could have Hiram done differently?

Hiram should haved tried to stop the men from beating up Emmit Til. Hiram saw the men beating Emmit up but didn't do anything about it. He was afraid to try to stop them because they might have hurt him too.

Journal Entry: Mississippi Trial, 1955 - B

B - What could Hiram, or anyone else, have done, or do to stop a crime?

I think that if Hiram knew about the crime and when or where it was going to occur he should have reported it to the police so that they could be there before the crime happens that way the criminals can be arrested. i the story it said that Hiram was there when the crime was commited. i think Hiram shouldve tried to stop the boys from kiling Emmit Til. Hiram didn't much of anything besides tell the boys to stop and that they were going too far. If anyone had r has the opportunity to stop a crime they should do so in case its putting someones life in jeopardy. keeping quiet could cost a life and you never know who you could save by speaking up.

Journal Entry: Mississippi Trial, 1955-A

A - Why does racism exist?

I feel that racism exist only because some people in this world cannot accept that there are people of other colors and attributes that live with them or around them. The only way for them to handle it is by using their differences as a reason to start fights and argue. People who can't accept people who are different always try to make it seem like they are superior to someone of a different race or skin color. Racism may also exist because sometimes when a bunch of people live in the same area for a long time and the only thing they've seen is people of their skin color and someone of another race comes to live in the area, they react as if they've never seen someone so different.
