Journal Entry 75 words

Who did Amir have to fight in order to get Sohrab?

To get Sohrab, Amir had to fight off the Taliban official. Amir then realied that when the offiicial took off his glasses, it was Assef, the old neighborhood bully. Assef beat Amir up though. Amir was still able to get Sohrab and take him with him. Amir was brave for trying to fight fro Hassan's son and be there for him. Amir had to fight Assef because he was a taliban official and Sohrab was already Assef's servant. He had to do something for Hassan so he fought Assef to get Sohrab.

Journal Entry 75 words Chpt.25

What promise does amir break to sohrab?

The promise that amir breaks to sohrab is that he wouldn't let anything happen to him. Amir broke his promise because Sohrab tried to commit suicide and he almost was successful but he managed to stay alive. Amir should have been there to protect sohrab and look out for him. He kept his promise when finding sohrab and taking him out of Taliban territory but he wasn't there for him when he almost died. That is how Amir broke his promise.

Journal Entry (75 words) Chapter 23 & 24

What is your reaction to Rahim Khan letter to Amir? Should the letter have been presented to him earlier? Do you feel that Baba was a good man?

My reaction to the letter was sort of surprising because i thought that Rahim was saying before that Amir should do something for Hassan as if he didn't ever do anything. But then he got a letter saying to forgive himself. I think the letter should have been sent to Amir sooner because Amir wouldn't have to go through all the think he had to do just to get Sohrab. I feel that baba was a good man but he tried to make Amir and Hassan just like him and sometimes Baba had a hard time trying and was really hard on both of them and also was torn between the two sons.

Journal Entry (75 words) chpt.21-22

In Chapres 21-22 the cruelty of the Taliban is clearly in evidence. Give 2-3 examples.

In chapter 21 the Taliban are very cruel because when Amir and Farid go to Amir's old neighborhood, it was taken over by all of the Taliban. Also in chapter 21 when the man and the woman committed adultery, the Taliban resolved it by throwing rocks at them and killing them. They could have just taken the people to jail but they were too brutal to do that and they were careless of others lives.
In chapter 22 the Taliban were brutal because Amir comes to realize that when he visited the Taliban official, he found out that it was really Assef, the bully, behind the sun glasses he wore. Assef beat Amir up and broke his nose. Assef was already mean and becoming a Talibam official for him was even worse. Farid helped Amir by taking out Assef's eye with a slingshot.

Journal Entry Chapter 17

I feel that in this chapter the quote, " A boy who won't stand up for himself becomes a man who can't stand up to anything" means that Amir went to dangerous Kabul to see Rahim Khan and he didn't show appreciation because he was putting him down making him feel bad. I think that if i were Amir, I wouldn't put myself in danger by going back to Kabul. I think Amir has become a man who can't stand up to anything. He lets alot of people bring him down. Amir still hasn't learned to speak up for himself.

The Kite Runner Entry: Chpt 12

Baba observes that" It may be unfair, but what happens in a single day can change the course of a whole lifetime." Whom is he speaking about? Why? What else might be significant about that quote?

I think that when baba said this he was talking about Hassan. I think he is speaking about Hassan because he is saying that something happened to Hassan to cause him to act the way he does. The quote could also mean that Baba did something to change his own life. In the sory baba is diangnose with cancer so maybe he did something to cause that to happen.

Journal Entry

" Afghans abhor customs but cherish rules."

I feel that this quote means that Afghans are afraid of the Afghan traditions but have no problem following the rule set for them. People from Afghanistan have alot of traditions. Some are dangerous traditions. That is probably the reason behind the Afghans being afrain. There could be a punishment for not following tradition.

The Election is rapidly approaching. What are your feelings about the candidates? What have you heard? How would your life change if Obama won? How would your life change if McCain won?

my feelings about this upcoming election are very good because I believe that Barack Obama will succeed in becoming our new President of The United States. I feel that he will beat Sen. John Mccain with ease.

So far i have heard that in Barack Obama's 30 minute campaign commercial that there were some false facts that were stated. I also heard that Sarah Palin is misusing her position as Vice Presidential nominee.

If Barack Obama were elected president then I wouldn't have to worry about not being able to pay for college.

If John Mccain were elected president then I would be afraid that I might be drafted into the army because Mccain might send too many soldiers to Iraq to lose their lives.

Quote of the day

EPICTETUS: It is impossible for a man to learn what he already knows.

I feel that this quote is saying a man cannot learn new things if he thinks he already knows everything and is to stubborn or conceited to learn something new.
